HOW I WORK

My training was in Integrative Counselling, which means that I am trained to use a variety of theories & techniques in my work. I believe this is a useful way of working, as it means I can tailor my approach to meet your needs. We are all different, so what works for one person may not suit another. This is why I choose to work with a flexible approach.

My favoured way of working is called 'Psychodynamic counselling'. This involves exploring how past experiences may still be impacting on us in the present day. It involves identifying and uncovering unconscious behaviours that may be blocking you from moving forward.

For example, have you wondered why you always seem to end up in the same kind of relationships? Do you find that you keep repeating the same patterns in relationships? There will be a reason why this pattern keeps occurring. Psychodynamic counselling is particularly helpful at identifying patterns & getting to the root cause of these behaviours. It helps you to increase your awareness of self & how you interact within 1-1 relationships and groups.

Counsellors are not able to give advice - so I cannot tell you what life choices you could be making. Instead, my role is to guide you along your own path, helping you to discover what feels right for you and empowering you to make your own decisions.

“There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”
