CLARE ALLEN COUNSELLING
Mental Health Service · Professional Service

ABOUT ME
Experienced counsellor & BACP Registered Member.
I provide long and short term therapy for individuals in Bristol and surrounding areas. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and I abide by their code of ethics.
Before completing my training in counselling, I worked in the mental health field for 12 years. I have worked for various charitable organisations in Bristol, such as Bristol Drug's Project, Knowle West Drug & Alcohol Service and St Mungo's. I had various different roles within these organisations, all of which involved one to one and group work with clients who were struggling with various mental health difficulties.
In 2008 I decided to train as a counsellor; I undertook my training at UWE, in Bristol. I felt that the training would support my work within the field of mental health & complement the client work that I was already doing.
In 2011 I set up my counselling service which is based in Horfield, Bristol. I enjoy supporting others through their journey of discovery and change.
I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, such as;
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Relationship problems
- Sexual abuse & trauma
- Chronic fatigue
- Bereavement
- Domestic violence
- General life dissatisfaction
My qualifications;
- Diploma in Counselling
- Certificate in Counselling
- BSc Hons Psychology & Sociology
- Motivational Interviewing training
- Brief Solution Focussed Therapy training
I regularly attend continuing professional development (CPD) events to ensure that my working practice continues to evolve. I engage in monthly clinical and group supervision, to ensure that I am working ethically with my clients.
I have experience of engaging in my own personal therapy over a number of years.
